Bekki loves introducing people to yoga. It’s like giving them a gift – a super power – to call upon anytime, anywhere to find peace. When she tried a yoga class on a VHS tape in high school, she was immediately hooked. “Being able to quiet my busy mind by focusing on my breath, and then breathing space into my body to undo my habitual shapes was freeing and magical.”
She’s studied and practiced yoga, in some form, ever since. She focuses on gentle, restorative yoga with some slow flows, Yin Yoga to loosen up connective tissue and encourage deep relaxation, and likes to incorporate Yoga Nidra and Reiki in some of her classes and workshops. Her classes are suitable for all ages and body types. She loves to use props to help students meet their bodies where they are.
Bekki has a Masters Degree in Education and taught elementary students for 20 years. She loved breathing and stretching with her classes – they loved it too – and the whole classroom community benefited from the calm created by quieting the mind. A few years ago, Bekki pivoted from elementary school teaching to running The Benninghofen House, where she’s also been teaching yoga classes for 5 years. She’s grateful for the opportunity to share yoga in such a beautiful space.
